What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and why is it a holistic approach?

EFT uses acupoints to interrupt negative emotional energy that is causing our bodies to enter into an emotionally charged state. It allows our bodies to return to a calmer state of mind. 

Research has shown that that we have two nervous systems: the parasympathetic nervous system which operates when we are at a calm state and the sympathetic nervous system that operates when we are at a high distress state. 

There are a few notable differences between the two states. The parasympathetic nervous system allows blood to flow to all parts of our body including the left brain, where our logic, reasoning and thought processes are housed. The Sympathetic Nervous System changes the blood flow in a high distress situation, preparing our bodies for fight or flight.  These variations change the blood flow from non-critical parts to those parts necessary for fight or flight.  Most importantly, it starts to shut the blood flow to the left side of the brain, thus leaving the right side to deal with the situation. The right side is the emotional side.

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly referred to as “tapping,” is one of the quickest and simplest ways to reduce the level of distress and return the body to a relaxed state.  It can also help in dealing with an array of problems, including but not limited to:

  • Phobias

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Pain management

  • Addiction

  • Anger management

  • Resolution of childhood trauma
