Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, known as CBT, focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It can also improve emotional regulation and assist in developing personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. In other words, CBT facilitates changing the way a person thinks. CBT is effective in changing the habits of people experiencing negative thinking and the inability to see better solutions to facilitate a better life. As a result, CBT will help you become a happier, more successful person.

  • How does it work?

You and your therapist will analyze your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to work out if they're unrealistic or unhelpful and to determine the effect they have on each other and on you. Your therapist will be able to help you work out how to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.

  • How long does it take?

CBT usually takes between 5 and 20 sessions to work. These sessions usually last 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Is it effective?

According to a recent study, CBT is the most extensively tested of the psychosocial interventions and has been found to be as effective and more enduring than antidepressant medications.
